In Marrakech, we lived in a "riad", which normally includes about 10 rooms, with an open air "patio" in the middle including a livingroom, a jacuzzi with hammam and a kitchen where crêpes and orangejuice was served every morning!! It is personal and calm compared to living in a hotel, and it gets us right in the middle of the Medina, the old town.
Because the streets to the different riads in the Medina are so narrow, no taxi can drive just outside the door, and it is like a labyrinth to find back by yourself in the nighttime, so we were always accompanied with the kind men that worked in the Medina during nighttime to help people find the way back to their riads.
